Install eSIM on Samsung Galaxy S24 / S24+ / S24 Ultra

Compatible when SIM manager exposes Add eSIM and the phone is unlocked. Samsung model numbers, country firmware, and carrier provisioning can change eSIM availability. You need your QR code (emailed after purchase) and an internet connection to scan it.

Who this guide covers

Covers Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra in Canadian, US, and other regional configurations.

Check before you buy

  • Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM is available
  • The phone is network unlocked
  • The exact model number and firmware are supported for eSIM

Exact settings path

Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM > Scan QR code

  1. 1

    Connections → SIM manager

Go to Settings → Connections → SIM card manager (or Network & Internet → SIMs). Tap 'Add eSIM' or 'Add mobile plan'.

  2. 2

    Scan QR code

Choose 'Scan carrier QR code' and point the camera at your eSIM QR code. When detected, tap to add the plan.

  3. 3

    Activate when travelling

The eSIM profile is installed. Follow the specific plan terms for when validity or service begins; at your destination, go to Settings → Connections → SIM card manager, select the travel plan, and turn on mobile data for it when ready.

Check compatibility first

Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager and look for Add eSIM. Confirm the phone is unlocked; Samsung eSIM support can vary by model number, country, and carrier firmware.

Carrier and region: A Galaxy S24 name does not guarantee identical eSIM support across Canada, the US, and imported models. Carrier firmware may hide Add eSIM or restrict network use even when the hardware is capable.

Before you fly

Install the QR code over Wi-Fi, label the new plan with the destination, and keep your Canadian SIM active for calls or verification messages if required.

Install vs. activate: Install over Wi-Fi before departure. Follow the plan terms for when validity begins; at the destination, enable the travel plan and select it for mobile data when ready. The downloaded profile does not prove network registration.

Device details cross-check: Samsung Canada: eSIM support. Regional model and carrier support can still differ.

Home line and dual SIM

Keep the Canadian SIM active if you need your number, set Voyaio as the preferred SIM for mobile data, and disable roaming on the Canadian line. Samsung's SIM manager lets you review the active line before connecting. Keeping the Canadian line enabled can still incur your carrier's roaming or usage charges, especially for calls and SMS; check your carrier's terms before travel.

When you arrive

Set the travel eSIM as the preferred SIM for mobile data and disable data roaming on the Canadian line. If the plan does not connect, toggle airplane mode once after activation.

Troubleshooting this Samsung Galaxy S24 / S24+ / S24 Ultra guide

SIM manager has no Add eSIM

Check the model number, carrier unlock status, and software updates. If the option remains absent, treat the device as unconfirmed rather than purchasing on the S24 label alone.

Voyaio is selected but data is unavailable

In SIM manager, select Voyaio for Mobile data, enable the line, check the required roaming setting, and toggle Airplane Mode once.

If the phone shows no service, confirm the travel plan is enabled, mobile data is assigned to that line, and data roaming is enabled for the travel eSIM when the provider requires it. Then toggle airplane mode or restart the phone.

Samsung Galaxy S24 / S24+ / S24 Ultra eSIM FAQs

Will a Canadian Galaxy S24 work in the US?

An unlocked eSIM-capable model should work with a compatible travel plan, subject to the plan's destination coverage and the phone's regional firmware.

Can I leave my Canadian SIM enabled?

Yes, for calls or SMS, but choose Voyaio for data and disable Canadian data roaming.
