Install eSIM on Google Pixel 8 / 8 Pro
Compatible when an EID and Add eSIM option are present and the phone is unlocked. Verify the exact Pixel rather than assuming every regional or carrier version behaves identically. You need your QR code (emailed after purchase) and an internet connection to scan it.

Network settings
Go to Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs. Tap 'Add eSIM' or 'Download a SIM instead'. Choose 'Scan QR code'.

Scan and add
Point your camera at the QR code. When the plan appears, tap to add it. Name it (e.g. 'Travel') if asked.

Switch when abroad
The eSIM profile is installed. Follow the specific plan terms for when validity or service begins; at your destination, go to Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs, select the travel eSIM, and turn on mobile data for that line when ready.

On Pixel 8, check Settings > About phone for an EID and Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs for an Add eSIM option. Carrier and regional versions can vary, so verify before purchase.
Carrier and region: Pixel eSIM support and menu wording can vary by country, carrier, and firmware. A Canadian or US retail model may differ from an imported phone; the Add eSIM check on the device is decisive.
Before you fly
Install the plan over Wi-Fi, name it Travel or after the destination, and leave the Canadian SIM available if you need two-factor authentication during the trip.
Install vs. activate: Download the profile on Wi-Fi before the flight, then enable Voyaio and make it the mobile-data SIM after arrival. Installing the profile and registering on a destination network are separate steps.
Device details cross-check: Google Pixel: add a SIM or eSIM. Regional model and carrier support can still differ.
Home line and dual SIM
Keep your Canadian SIM active for two-factor codes if needed, but set Voyaio as the Mobile data SIM and leave automatic data switching off so the Pixel does not use the Canadian line unexpectedly. Keeping the Canadian line enabled can still incur your carrier's roaming or usage charges, especially for calls and SMS; check your carrier's terms before travel.
When you arrive
Select the travel eSIM for mobile data and confirm that automatic data switching is off. If service does not appear, restart the phone after enabling the plan.

Pixel 8 supports multiple eSIM profiles. You can store several travel plans.

Add eSIM is unavailable
Check the EID under About phone, install pending system updates, and confirm the carrier has not locked the device. Imported variants may not expose the same menu.
Pixel has signal but no internet
Open SIMs, choose Voyaio for Mobile data, verify the line is enabled and any required roaming setting is on, then restart the phone.
If the phone shows no service, confirm the travel plan is enabled, mobile data is assigned to that line, and data roaming is enabled for the travel eSIM when the provider requires it. Then toggle airplane mode or restart the phone.
