Is the iPhone XR eSIM compatible?
Yes, in most markets. Apple's current guidance lists iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR and later as eSIM-capable. For iPhones sold in mainland China, Apple currently lists only iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 17e and iPhone Air as eSIM-capable. The phone must also be unlocked to use a travel eSIM. Do the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 support eSIM?
Yes. Both came after the iPhone XR, so they support eSIM unless sold in mainland China. Open the iPhone 12 guide for the setup screens.
How do I check if my phone supports eSIM?
On iPhone, open Settings, then Cellular (or Mobile Service), and look for Add eSIM or Set Up Cellular. On Android, look for an option to add an eSIM in your SIM or SIM manager settings; menu names vary by brand and software version.
